Magic Frostie's Boredom Busters for the six weeks holidays!

Please feel free to add comments with your favourite things to do with the kids during the six week holidays. I've tried to write about all the cool stuff we try to do without breaking the bank.

Clacton Pier,

www.clactonpier.co.uk

Clacton Pier is a fun filled day out, with Amusements, it’s very own Aquarium, Bowling, Rides, Adventure Golf and Circus Fantasia.

On the 22nd July you can sit back in the Boardwalk Bar, and watch ‘THE MAGIC FROSTIE SHOW’ for free with your Children.

Thorndon Country Park

Follow the Mouse’s Trail through the deep dark woods and meet all the characters from the Gruffalo, including the Gruffalo’s child. There is a shop and a café, but all you really need to pay for is the parking.

Langdon Hills nature reserve

Do your kid’s love Peter Rabbit, if so did you know that Langdon Hills has a lovely little Peter Rabbit trail where you can meet him and all his friends. Bring a picnic! You can even do a bit of pond dipping!

Hanningfield Resevoir

Join Mr. Toad, Mole and Ratty for a trail through the forest, in a Wind in the Willows themed country park. Just look out for Weasels as they may try to steal your picnic!

Colchester Zoo,

https://www.colchester-zoo.com/

There are over 260 different species of animals at Colchester Zoo, as well as incredible animal encounters such as the giraffe and elephant feeds where the public are able to feed the animals themselves.

Join Magic Frostie every Monday throughout the Summer Holidays for incredible Magic and Fun shows in the Kalahari Theatre or the Terrace.

King Georges Playing Fields,

Adventure golf, tons of green space to run around in, and an amazing park. King Georges Playing Field’s is a perfect inexpensive day out.

Lake Meadows,

A particular favourite for Magic Frostie, enjoy a walk around the lake, a game of football in the park, a picnic, and a little bit of playtime on the climbing frames!

Hadleigh Park,

Once you’ve paid for parking you’ve got a whole day out here! The park itself boasts a fantastic bike course, and for younger children a wonderful play area. A short walk from the park you’ll walk past a residential area, where someone has created a ‘wish tree’ in their front garden, the salvation army’s farm park, and stunning views from Hadleigh Castle ruins. It really is a fantastic full day out!

Adventure Island,

For me what sets adventure island apart from other places is the staff… Everyone always has a smile on their face is ready to make your child’s day out the best ever. You can also jump in the arcades, and enjoy the fantastic Sealife Adventure, which now also includes giant tortoise, penguins and Meerkats, for fish and chips Magic Frostie’s top tip is Clarence yard who have an option of Gluten Free!

Audley End

http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/audley-end-house-and-gardens/

All aboard. Jump on the miniature railway through the teddy bear forest, and look out for the fairies! Audley End, is the stuff of children’s dreams, where imagination really comes to life!

Frinton Beach,

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside! Enjoy lapping up the sun whilst the children build sandcastles, and paddle in the sea. Make sure to take a trip to Walton Pier, and get some of the best chips ever from May’s on the promenade.

Old Macdonald’s Farm

Feed the animals, watch the singing chickens and jump aboard the doggy dog rollercoaster, at this funfair farmpark!

Chelmsford Museum

https://www.chelmsford.gov.uk/museums/whats-on/summer-of-science/

Find out about the science of flight with Birds of Prey, be astounded by the Mad Science Show, find out what lurks beneath our feet with Essex Rocks and lots more every Friday at the summer of science.

Police Museum Chelmsford

The essex police museum is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10-4. The kids can test out fingerprinting, be locked in a cell, and for any doctor who fans, have their photo taken next to the Tardis!

Wat Tyler Park

Wat Tyler Park is a little gem of a park. It hosts ‘Go Bonkers’ inflatable days throughout the summer, which was one of my favourite events last summer (as a Dad) loads of fab bouncy castles, alongside a DJ playing music for the Mums and Dads. Not only that there is a miniature railway, as well as an Awesome adventure playground.

A trip to London.

There is always loads going on for kids in London, and with it just being a train ticket away I am always surprised by the amount of parents who don’t take their kids into the capital. I could ( and probably will) write a whole blog on things to do in London, and how to avoid the discomfort everyone talks about, but for the moment MOST of the Museums are FREE, you can catch a show for a fiver, and there are some really lovely free events going on all the way through the summer, but as I’ve said there will be a new blog dropping for that!

Promenade Park and Maldon.

It’s hot hot hot, but Promenade park is more than just a park, it’s a waterpark too, and they sometimes have a fete and rides. Have a wander along the seafront, and check out the pirate boats, and drop by Tiptree tearoom for a lovely afternoon tea with the kids!

Paradise Wildlife Park.

https://www.pwpark.com/

Paradise Wildlife Park is a lovely day out, and there is something for everyone. Go and have a walk around the zoo. Have a game of mini golf, enjoy the best adventure playground you will ever experience and take a stroll through the Brand new land of the dinosaurs. But beware, despite Paradise Wildlife Park being a great attraction, there are plenty of parent traps, and almost every attraction has coin slots for extra ‘fun’.

Hyde Hall.

There’s a lovely playground here, as well as a chance to enjoy the beautiful grounds in the sunshine. This year throughout the summer there are dinosaur themed activities for the kids.

Barleylands Farm park and Craft Villiage.

https://www.barleylands.co.uk/

Have a fun day at the races at Barleylands, with fun Sheep racing, Rat racing and Chicken racing, as well as loads of other fantastic fun events and activities.

Stay and Splash.

Fancy a dip, take the kids to stay and splash for a fun filled day out, with a pool, small adventure playground and even a mini beach!
